About Disco

Hi my name is Disco. I'm about 5 months old (2/2/20) and my foster parents tell me that I am the most handsome little guy they've ever seen! Need someone to listen to your day? I'm your guy! Need someone easy going and drama free? I'm your guy! I enjoy toys, running around the house, playing with other cats (including my brother Mousy) and taking kitten naps in cat trees. I'm told I am a very easy going kitten, I'm tidy, quiet and I don't ask for much attention, I'm just happy to hang out and keep you company. I hope you will consider me, I promise to be a very polite family member!

Meet Sally! Sally (less black on face) is about 8 to 9-weeks-old and 9-pounds. She was found abandoned, with her sister, in an Alabama cemetery. One of our rescue partners was out flying remote control airplanes and heard them screaming. He found them hiding under a bush, emaciated and suffering from hair loss. They are now in a Wisconsin foster home and thriving! Interested in this sweet dog? Meet Scooter! Scooter is about 4-years-old and 30-pounds. He was acquired by a woman to hunt squirrels in her yard. But, he wasn't a fan of this job, so after a week she left him in the overnight drop box at a rural Alabama shelter. He's a sweetheart and a love-bug, so the shelter really wanted Underdog to take him! What Scooter wants most in life is getting love and attention. Scooter is a little timid and would love a patient family to give him time to settle in. When given love, he seems to just melt in the caresses, trying to soak up each and every kind moment he can get. When you stop petting or hugging him he extends his paw to let you know he wants more. When Scooter first arrived to WI it took him some time to settle into home life. But with love and reassurance he is showing great improvement everyday. No cats - he wants to chase them. Scooter LOVES treats and is the ideal candidate for training. Treats are helping him with "leave it" (which he is doing great at), and not to jump (which he has a tendency to do), or as a distraction when he gets excited when he spots a squirrel. He is still being potty trained but has had only one accident so far and now gets to sleep in the bed at night. Scooter is an absolute sweetheart and love-bug.  Interested in this sweet dog? Meet Shelby Lynn! Shelby Lynn is about 7-years-old and 8-pounds. She came into a rural shelter in AL when her elderly owner couldn't care for her anymore.  Shelby Lynn does have some dry eye issues that will be assessed at her vet visit on 2/18. Shelby Lynn is a sweetheart and goofball. If you pick her up, she will give you a dog hug and hold onto you tight with her paws.  She needs a couple days to settle in and then becomes a silly and sweet dog who loves to play and will alerts you with a lil bark or playful growl if you are not adoring her quite enough. She prefers to sleep nestled on top of a pile of pillows, but she will graciously share her pillow mountain with you.   Shelby is sweet and calm with other dogs and with cats.  She LOVES the 7 year old child here.  Shelby Lynn is happy to go out in a fenced yard (as an Alabama dog, she's getting used to the idea of snow!) and also loves walking (prancing) on a leash. She has been crated during the day and does just fine with this! She keeps her crate spotless. We're working on housetraining. She has had a few accidents if she's not watched closely - a good routine and lots of trips outside helps a lot.    Shelby Lynn is a low-energy dog.  Mostly she likes to hang out and snuggle. As soon as she feels comfortable, you'll see her silly side come out, she loves to roll and wiggle around, and play and wrestle with people.  She is still learning what a "toy" is, but she's getting taught by the other dog in her foster home!   Shelby came into rescue with eyes and ears in rough shape. She is very sensitive about having her face around her eyes and ears cleaned or touched.  She will be getting a dental cleaning and have her ears and eyes cleaned and checked out at Underdog on 2/18/20.  With lots of treats, she has been slowly coming around to having her eyes wiped off. She'll need an understanding person who can be patient, gentle, and consistent with her to keep working on these things.  Update 2/10/20 - Shelby Lynn unfortunately tested positive for heartworm disease. She got this by being bitten by an infected mosquito. She is not contagious to other dogs (but all dogs should be on heartworm prevention monthly, year-round to prevent infection/reinfection). Underdog has started Shelby Lynn on treatment for heartworm, and with proper after-care, she will fully recover. Her adopter will simply need to bring Shelby Lynn to scheduled treatment appointments and keep her CALM (with strict crate rest or supervised relaxation) post treatment injections (for 2-3 months). We provide adopters with instructions and will cover needed meds. Dogs who are treated for heartworm have a positive likelihood of recovery when post-treatment instructions and rest are followed Interested in this sweet dog? Meet Susan! Susan is about 3-months-old and 15-pounds. This cutie ended up in rural Alabama animal control.  Susan is a good puppy who really likes other dogs and wants to play with them. She would need a slower introduction with very large dogs so as not to be overwhelmed. Susan has been very friendly with every person she has met. She is very quiet and relaxed when crated, but has a lot playful puppy energy when she gets to run around. House training and basic obedience training have just started. Susan, like every puppy, would benefit greatly from a puppy class to get her off to her best possible start in life. She is going to be a great dog! Interested in this sweet puppy?
