Arabella has been dealt a very rough hand in the first few years of her life. With CCR's help, she will soon be a happy and healthy pup who will know that not every human is bad.  She is a tiny little black and tan coonhound that still isn't so sure about being petted.  She so desperately wants to be near you, but she is terrified if actuallly being petted.  While it's heartbreaking to see, we are so glad that she's a CCR dog now and that she will never be mistreated again. Arabella is insanely sweet, very well mannered in the house, quiet, calm (except and dinner time!), and great with dogs and cats.  Given her nervous nature, she would do best in a home with older children or no children, where she has time to learn to trust.   **This dog is heartworm positive and will be treated by the rescue and will be available for foster to adopt for a local family that is comfortable with the restriction requirements for the duration of treatment. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out an application.  We do allow out of state adoptions and any transport costs are at the expense of the adopter.  If you have further questions about this dog, please email us at ccradopt@gmail.com and someone will be in touch as soon as possible. Please note we are unable to hold dogs for adopters as this ties up valuable foster homes. Please understand that we are an all volunteer group and we have jobs outside of this organization.  We do our best to provide quick responses but occasionally they are a little slower.  If you do not receive a response in 48 hours, please resend to make sure it's received. show less

Nobody knows how to call the cavalry quite like Bodean. This long eared fellow enjoys squirrel hunting, following his nose, and long cuddle sessions like any good hound dog.  Bodean may have a few years under his belt, but he's here to tell the world he's got lots of life to live. Although he'd prefer to spend the second half of his life on your couch rather than a pen out back he's likely accustomed to.. Won't you please be the one who does Bodean the good life?! **This dog is heartworm positive and will be treated by the rescue and will be available for foster to adopt for a local family that is comfortable with the restriction requirements for the duration of treatment. Funyon came to us as a puppy along with his siblings and mom when they were found abandoned in the woods.  Poor Funyon had puncture wounds that were infested with maggots and we weren't sure he was going to make it.  Funyon was adopted to what we hoped would be his forever home but, through no fault of his own, he found himself back with CCR thanks to his microchip! Funyon is now a happy, healthy, 7 month old puppy full of spunk with a dash of mischief for good measure.  He loves other dogs, kids, and even ducks!  His other joys in life are bones, toy, soft beds, long walks, and puppy wrestle sessions.  He is crate trained (but is all about sleeping in the bed with his tiny humans!) and ready for his true forever home.  This boy may have had a rough start, but we're going to do everything we can to make sure it's all steaks and belly rubs for the rest of his days :) If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out an application.  We do allow out of state adoptions and any trasnport costs are at the expense of the adopter.  If you have further questions about this dog, please email us at ccradopt@gmail.com and someone will be in touch as soon as possible. his is the story of Willa Dean. On New Years Eve a Coonie follower stopped for gas at a rural North Carolina gas station. As he was pumping gas this sweet lady hobbled over with a badly broken leg. The gas attendant said she had been hanging around for a couple of weeks and they couldn’t (wouldn’t) catch her. The good houndy Samaritan was already headed to Charleston so he shot us a message that he loaded her up and was on the way.  On January 3rd, Dr Pernell, being the magician he is, pieced Willa Dean’s leg back together using a bone graph from her shoulder and a variety of hardware. 2 weeks later, Willa’s very large hernia that was allowing all of her abdominal contents to slip through was also repaired. We allowed her to rest from those major surgeries and started heartworm treatment mid February that she has now completed without issue.  Willa Dean is 4ish years old and in far better shape then when we met. She loooooves people and other dogs. Kitties make her sing the song of her people and we aren’t sure if she could make friends easily.  Willa Dean is ready for her forever home. Woodrow is a VERY handsome bluetick male who loves to be loved and sing his beautiful hound song to everyone who will listen!. He loves a nice dinner and belly scratches after! Woodrow does seem to love to chase the finer things in life (like a kitty), so he would probably do best in a kitty free home!  He is always up for an adventure and will make sure your life is full of long walks and plenty of wrestle sessions.  He gets along great with other dogs. **This dog is heartworm positive and will be treated by the rescue and will be available for foster to adopt for a local family that is comfortable with the restriction requirements for the duration of treatment.
