About

Sandy is a sweet 4 month old puppy who was saved from a kill shelter along with her mother Mandy. Sandy had demodectic mange which is not contagious and is caused from stress. She is getting baths and starting to look amazing.

We start all of our adoptions with a one week sleepover, so you know everything there is to know before finalizing the adoption.

Our adoption fee is $225 for puppies under 6 months old. They will be up to date on vaccinations as of their adoption, but they'll need additional boosters later. We wait until 6 months of age to spay/neuter puppies, because getting them fixed too early can cause more medical problems long term. What we do is called a "provisional adoption" which means you can take the puppy home at 8 weeks, but we don't actually finalize the adoption until they are spayed/neutered later. You can get a free spay/neuter at First Coast No More Homeless Pets, or you're welcome to go to the vet of your choice at your own expense. Once they're spayed/neutered, then we finalize the adoption and everything is official.

We ask that you fill out an adoption application before you meet our animals. You can download it here: http://www.floridaurgentrescue.com/adopt

Shelter Description

Our mission is to dramatically improve the lives of shelter and rescue animals, to assist in urgent rescue situations and to implement resources to help in the aid of these animals. We rescue from death row at high kill shelters and help them have happy lives in their furever homes.

Shelter Driving Directions

Please note: We are not a shelter. We do not have a kennel or facility that you can visit and see all the Animals. Each Animal is fostered in an individual home. So, you cannot come visit our animals until you have gone through the application and brief phone interview process and then we will schedule a meet and greet with the animal and their foster parents. Then the next step would be a 1 week sleepover, so before finalizing we can all make sure it's a perfect fit. We are all volunteers and do this in our spare time, we do not have set "hours" and we answer all calls and emails as quickly as we can. Thank you so much for your interest in our FUR Babies!

Areas Served

We rescue animals in Northeast Florida, including Putnam County, Bradford County, Clay County, St. Johns County and Duval County.

Adoption Instructions

We require a written application, references and a home check prior to adoption. If you're interested in a foster-to-adopt, we are very flexible.
