MaleAmerican Staffordshire Terrier

**Runner is currently being fostered in Houston. His adoption fee is $300USD with local area Houston pickup. Because care for the dogs is so expensive, the adoption donation is non-negotiable.**

Runner came into rescue like so many of our dogs do, abandoned with no family on the streets of Houston. He hit the jackpot when two amazing trainers saw him and decided his life would not be one that ended on the streets. Runner has a few scars that tell a story of a past lived unloved, but he has rebounded physically and emotionally and will make a great companion for any family.

Runner is a roughly three- year old American Staffordshire. He is around the 60-pound mark and an active/athletic guy. He is fully grown and should not get any larger. He would be best suited for an active family that can give him plenty of exercise and would likely be best placed in a home with a yard. Because many apartments and condos have breed restrictions, it is important to check with any property manager about being able to own his breed mix prior to applying.

Runner has lived with two professional dog trainers since being rescued which has helped him develop great manners and some awesome dog skills. He is great on his leash, loves to go for walks, and will be your BFF if you play ball with him.

Runner is okay with other dogs, but prefers the company of smaller, not high energy/strung dogs. Due to his time on the street, where he had to fend for himself, we would not advocate placing him in a home with cats. He would make a great bachelor dog, but could be well-suited with another companion with a proper introduction.

Runner should be adopted by a family who understands that he will take time and patience as he acclimates into his new life. He may have accidents, chew on things he is not supposed to, and bark in his kennel. It can take dogs a few weeks to properly acclimate to their new lives, so he is seeking a family that can give him this time and work with him on becoming an even more awesome dog than he already is.

Runner should be adopted by a family who plans to keep him indoors as part of a family - we do not adopt dogs into situations in which they will be left outside for extended periods of time unattended (for example, the entire work day).

Runner is fully vetted (neutered, shots, microchip, heartworm tested - negative) and has no known health or allergy issues.

Instead of just wanting to do something, we figured out how to do something! Reggie’s Friends is dedicated to the health and welfare of dogs in and around the greater Houston, TX area. We focus our attention on helping shelter dogs, street dogs, and dogs who have been abandoned in boarding facilities find loving, forever families.
