Handsome Baxter was found in February lost, alone, and scared. I took him in, got his vaccines, had him neutered and placed him on all his monthly preventatives. He's hw negative, by the way, and about 18 months old. My husband and I have personally fostered Baxter ever since. He's darling... And he's also very typical JRT personality. He gets along with most of the dogs in his foster home. We also have cats. Although Baxter has never hurt a cat, he does delight in aggravating them. For example... Chasing them up the stairs and under the bed is one of his favorite pastimes. Baxter has had some interest, but to be honest, this is a small semi rural town and not everyone here is equipped for a dog like Baxter. Like most JRTs he has a strong personality. Our biggest struggle with Baxter has been potty training. We're almost there, but we had to get on with a trainer for assistance. It's taken a long time to get here. In a home with only one other dog...a female... that tinkling should stop. Baxter walks well on a leash. He's super duper cute. He's great with people, friendly and playful. He enjoys running around in the yard and looking for varmints! Baxter will keep you safe from lizards, frogs, gophers, moles, and pesky squirrels. Like all JRTs, he wants to "get after things."
In order to adopt Baxter you need JRT experience. If you have never had one, he will not be a good fit for you. He will need a securely fenced yard and an owner who can give him a lot of attention and positive reinforcement. If you are gone 8 hours a day, he is not going to be a good fit in your home. He will do best with female dogs only. No kids. No cats. No male dogs. No out of state adoptions. Adopter must be able to drive to Corsicana.
Home check and vet reference mandatory. An RRI representative will come to your home and I will call your vet. Adoption fee is $200 dollars.
