Farley is a big, strong and handsome jock. He’s a 2 years-old, brindled American Staffordshire mix looking for a team captain who shares his exuberant love for life, long walks and peanut-butter-filled Kong toys. With a dog-savvy leader that is confident, positive and patient, we know he could be a true champion. He’s friendly, healthy, big-hearted and is happiest when everyone around him is relaxed and calm. He loves having other dogs on the playing field, but cats and children would be overwhelmed by his linebacker moves. He’s definitely not an insensitive brute, though — Farley was found on a Springfield street protecting the body of a tiny Chihuahua that had been hit by a car. Sadly, he lost his little friend. He’s now making new friends and learning from his foster parents and dog siblings about the importance of proper manners, spending time alone and chilling out in a household. His deep, long snores are in a league of their own! Farley wants to be someone’s No. 1 star player. His sweet nature is sure to win a place in your heart.

Shelter Driving Directions
SPRG does not have a facility, all of our rescues are in our foster program. If you'd like to meet one of our rescues please follow the steps of our adoption process.
We are an all-volunteer group located in the Historic Springfield neighborhood of Jacksonville, Florida Duval County.
We follow a comprehensive adoption process which includes taking considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a rescued pet into their homes and lives. Applications are not approved on a first-come-first-serve basis; rather, the home that seems to be the best fit for the rescued pet is chosen. The purpose of the application process is to find the best fit for a rescued pet and adopter.
1) Complete our adoption application and submit.
2) Let us know the best days and times for you to meet our rescue. We are a small group without a facility, so all of our rescues are in foster homes. We will arrange with the foster parent for a meeting.
3) After you meet our rescue and if you decide to move forward with adopting we will schedule a home visit to see where you live and interview you.
4) If you are applying to adopt a dog and you currently own a dog, we will arrange for them to meet. This may take several visits as all dogs are different and may need additional visits for a proper evaluation.
After all steps above are completed we may request for additional information, e.g. vet reference, but once we have all the information we need, the group will review, discuss and make a decision that is in the best interest of the rescue.
